Jean Bout vs Jack van Dooren

The following is a beautiful, proper bout that took place in France in 1959. Jean Bout was French, and van Dooren hailed from the Netherlands. This bout exemplifies what pro wrestling should be all about. I can't stand over-the-top gimmicks, as they make pro wrestling appear less authentic and diminish its credibility.

Could not agree more, Alf! The "MattD" YouTube channel is one of my favorites with all of the vintage French matches. Today's circus-like acrobatics and soap opera story lines have no place in wrestling.

Outstanding. Love the toehold submissions.

This YouTube channel has some really good bouts, good to see wrestlers allowed to use punches and kicks freely- if it doesn't hurt, why wrestle?

I really like the first two rounds. But I don't like all the punching and kicking at all. Why do that? What's the point of it other than hurting too easily. Anyone can kick or punch, but fighting by the purest rules of wrestling seems much more interesting to me. It highlights the physical and athletic qualities of the wrestlers.
This is just my opinion and I am not questioning the value of these two wrestlers at all.
