Introduction

Ok. Time for a BIG update. About 3 months ago, my eyes turned a beautiful shade of yellow. I had been going to the gym and I thought I over did it, so I drank some Gatorade and it helped but the clear color didn’t return. I made an appointment with my doctor and they sent me to the ER. They ran some tests and thought that one of my biliary canals was plugged. Turns out they discovered I had a mass in my pancreas. No pain but the news was not good. Matter of fact, I thought I was a goner! Providence put me in contact with a fantastic doc from Chicago who called and said he could help me. The procedure I had about 1 week later is called a “Whipple”. On May 2, I checked in the hospital and 8 or 9 hours later, the doc removed the head of my pancreas, 20% of my stomach, some of my short gut (the duodenum) and would have removed my gallbladder ( but it had already been removed). About 5 days after the surgery I was taken to the car and off to home I went. 6 weeks later I started chemo. 1 round of chemo I’m taking last 4 days. I’m having 12 - 4 day “cycles”. Every other Wednesday. So I’ll be done about February next year. Also, since my surgery, I back at the gym. I’m trying to get the strength back that I lost. Hence the weight reduction from 230 to 199. DON’T LOOSE WEIGHT THIS WAY!!

I’m convinced I’ll be back on the mats after the chemo is over buts it’s likely I’ll be a jobber rather than the heel I was. Heck right now, my wife could easily beat me. That never has been a bad thing!!

Anyway, if any of you out there are going through something similar, reach out. I’d love to encourage you if I can. Mike
