This is definitely a "High School Harry" move, meaning you learn it in high school wrestling but know that it won't work in college because it can be defended against easily enough when it is being set up. But once it's locked in, there is no defense. Accompanied by an auditorium filled with onlookers at a national event in the '90s, one dude locked it on his opponent. The hall reverberated with the piercing, plaintive cry of the victim as the ref slammed his palm to the mat to acknowledge the pin.
I've heard that if a spladle is applied correctly, it is the most difficult hold to escape from. Some have said that it's impossible to get out of, whether they've been in it or have applied it - in school, in practice, with a few guys watching, or in private. A wrestler in a spladle is in big trouble anytime & anywhere this hold has been locked on.
