Sorry to hear this Bud, the symptoms you describe could be caused by a variety of physical issues or drug interactions. Please, please see a doctor and have yourself checked out! Deano
Hi Super Mario. Remember me? I experience the same things. We just have to be more careful. I've had an opponent who loves to bite (gently but still leaves a bite mark). I guess we have to set limits. Mike
. . . and I'm not talking emotionally (I'm a pretty resilient SOB in that regard). I mean literal physical thin skin – thanks Mom and Dad! Working out earlier, I moved a bench, lightly scraped some metal at the bottom of the bench, and immediately popped up a small but deep purple bruise on my forearm. Waited to see if it would bleed, didn't. Recently my skin has deteriorated to the point that it has made me hesitant to schedule matches – even in a "light" give and take match opponents and I tend to engage in tight locks and holds, and my last few matches resulted in extensive bruising and occasional bleeding, neither commensurate with the action involved. Any of y'all experience this? Suggestions? I'm not ready to throw in the towel for this BS reason!
md match, what you describe is a condition called senile pupurs (seriously). They are pretty common on older men, particularly on forearms. They are, unfortunately, part of the aging process, and are caused by thinning of the skin due to aging, plus, if you have had a lot of sun exposure over the years, sunbathing, outdoor labor, even resting your arm on the open window sill of your car while driving, you are more susceptible. My doctors have said that it basically what has been described as a "get over it, you're aging" type of condition.
I have found a lotion called DerMed, which I've found very helpful in speeding up the healing process. Other than that, it's something you just deal with.
I know of some guys that had to stop because of similar issues. They joined sites like this and after a few matches realized that they bruised and or bled easily. If I recall correctly they were all in their early 70s. Along sleave shirt might help. Didn't you wrestle in long sleeve compression sirts sometimes in DC?

I could have written this. My skin tears and I bleed. I don’t care about the tear, I’m embarrassed that I’d bleed on my opponent and gross them out

I appreciate the information, HunPagan. My doctor basically gave me the same, "it's aging, get over it" advice. Might try DerMed.
