Yup. That sounds about right. Been a few male v male catfights. Slapping, hair pulling, (all hair in play), body punching, trash talk, insults, cursing, grabbing, pulling, grinding, shoving, pushing, it’s just an all out war on the floor. An extreme Catfight might include biting, scratching, and spitting. These inclusions are extreme. These combatants hate each other. And, they are just looking to destroy one another.
Catfights... an interesting twist on grappling, wrestling, striking.
I can honestly say... I haven't much experience in this particular style. My BJJ training, submission wrestling, and promission styles. Just don't prepare you for what's about to happen.
First, the action doesn't stop when you approach the edge of the fighting space there are no boundaries only attack and defend. It's not the easygoing slap, bump, roll and reset. It's Go! Fall off, get pinned in a corner, roll onto the floor keep fighting. It's an endurance battle to exhaustion.
Second, understand your arena and fight space. Further hotel room, mat space, or outside be aware of the pitfalls and take advantage. Know your limitations. Soft mattresses do not allow the same fluid sweeps as mats. Just saying.
Third, this is not a polite contest. While the combatants may be friends? They have chosen a style of combat that requires aggression. Passive fighting styles do not work in Catfights. Open handed slaps to the face are real haha.
Fourth, fighting from the bottom leads to defeat. While there are potential submissions, attacks and sweeps from bad positions... strikes from body punches to open handed face slaps negate them quickly. Taking the punishment while defending becomes the only option. Stay on top!
Fifth, would I do it again? Absolutely, I learned a great deal about myself. Even though I lost and was made to endure our agreed punishments. I was more alive for the experience.
All that said... traveling to NC? Let's see what happens.
