Thanks for the advice. I won't bother getting any then.

none, boxing gloves deserved to land and on targeted skulls directly, without padding!

I'm a wrestler, not a boxer. And the headgear is specifically to protect ears; they're not for general head protection.

But it does seem like the consensus of people I've talked to on here don't think I'll need ear protection..

Hey, guys. I'm just getting started with fighting/wrestling. I have some gear simply because I'm a gear fetishist, but I'm thinking I should get some ear protection before I start wrestling in earnest.

What brands or styles do you recommend?

How often and how all-out competitively are you likely to wrestle? Unless you're joining a club or organization in which you're wrestling every few days, the reality is it can be hard to find real-life private matches on this site or any other. They may only happen once every few weeks if not months (especially dependent on whether you can host). In which case, probably no need to worry about headgear.

Back when I was wrestling I rarely had more than a few matches a year, so again, no need for headgear. More to the point, though, over that time I encountered scores of opponents, and not once did any of them wear headgear.
