For me it’s partly that some gay people participate in aggressive martial arts, which isn’t typical of the gay community, though it does include me.
The second is the inclusion of traditional Māori culture. I’m a New Zealand born pakeha, which means my ancestry is European. New Zealand is strongly influenced by Māori and Polynesian culture and that is something I’m very proud of.
Yeah I watched the movie at the same day and I really enjoyed it.
It's not the typical Fight Sport movie with the main fight in the end but the story is really good.
Like how they meet in the beginning and the boxing guy was completely shy in the city. It's I think a normal story from a lot of gays.
I really enjoyed how he trained boxing and was after the attac there for the Maori guy.
I liked also the typical kiwi way of culture in the movie like I've seen it in New Zealand.
